Globorx's under-reaming case system uses a new type of  casing shoe  attached to the button ring. Once the borehole is completed, the casing and the ring can be left in the hole together with the steel pipe by retracting the driver bit only.

At the beginning of the operation, the driver bit passes through the casing shoe and locks into the ring. When drilling commences, the ring opens up a large enough hole to allow the casing shoe to be carried down the hole. The system has a complete drilling face to be done, and this effectively improves the penetration rate of the drilling when comparing with the conventional under-reaming systems. When drilling completes, simply rotate the system in an anticlockwise direction to unlock the driver bit from the ring, and the bit can be pulled out from the casing. A button bit can then be put down the hole to continue to drill the rock socket if necessary.
